Dr Lorcan Daly

Dr. Lorcan Daly serves as an Assistant Lecturer in Sport Science at the Department of Sport and Health Sciences at Technological University (TUS) of the Shannon. Within this role, Lorcan teaches students in a range of programs including Sport Science, Physical Activity and Athletic Therapy. Lorcan graduated with a BSc (Honours) in Sport Science with Exercise Physiology in 2017 and a PhD in Sports Physiology in 2021 from TUS. He is currently a member of the Physiological Society and the International University Strength and Conditioning Association. Lorcan’s principal research interests include the performance, workload and fatigue of team sport athletes, and how these responses are influenced by physical conditioning and strategies to enhance recovery. As part of ongoing collaborative projects, these areas are being explored with researchers from other institutes in Ireland, England, Brazil, Canada and the Netherlands. Finally, he has over 10-years practical experience as a strength and conditioning coach, primarily working with male and female club and inter-county athletes at youth and adult level within all codes of Gaelic games.
