Fatigue and Recovery in Gaelic Games

In Gaelic football, there is sparse data on players responses to a match or their timeline of recovery. Reliance on data from other sports is a considerable factor in the determination of training, recovery and performance profiling which may not be sufficient to accurately mirror the demands of Gaelic football. Initial results suggest Gaelic football elicits substantial post-match fatigue persisting for at least 48 hours. Additionally, coaches may require more than one recovery parameter to determine subsequent training or match readiness. This research involves interlinking themes of physiological profiling, player monitoring and post-match recovery across different sports, playing standards and sex in Gaelic games.
