Jennifer Fitzpatrick

Jennifer studied a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physical Activity and Health Science (first-class honours), in TUS. Jennifer completed multiple applied internships including in Australia , in the ‘Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition’ (research based), ‘ExWell Medical’ involving exercise instruction for individuals with a chronic disease, ‘CanTeen Ireland’ which involved researching physical activity for survivors of childhood or adolescent cancer and ‘Gaelic Athletic Association’ (research based).

Project About

This project aims to investigate if teenagers who have completed cancer treatment would participate in and approve of a physical activity and dietary behaviour programme. It will also explore if this programme will have an impact on their physical function and quality of life. This project will include teenagers aged 12 to 16 years old who have completed cancer treatment, their parents/ guardians and cancer healthcare professionals (e.g., physiotherapists, nurses and play therapists).

Practical Impact of Project

It is anticipated that this programme will provide follow up physical activity and dietary behaviour support to teenagers aged 12 to 16 years old who have completed cancer treatment. Supporting teenagers in potentially increasing their quality of life and physical function.
